Every time I brush my hair when it’s dry it poofs up like a poof ball. But if I don’t brush it looks tangled and messy. I know I have some sort of curl or wavy hair, ive tried gels to define curls but it makes my hair frizzy and messy. What do I do?

Then use a wide toothed comb to comb and style your hair according to the hairstyle you desire.

Then apply a hair cream or wax to seal the moisture before it dries and sets. Do not comb or brush after the hair style has dry and set as that will puff and frizz up the hair.

If you are unable to get a decent style, I would suggest you find a competent hair stylist who can cut and thin your hair so that the curls align better and thin enough so it doesn't clash easily.

Once you are able to obtain the hairstyle you desire, apply mousse, glaze or gel depending how fine or coarse your hair is, using heavier hair cosmetics for thicker and coarser hair.

Also, if your hair has not been damaged by either perming, colouring or bleaching, do not use a protein type of shampoo and conditioner as that will make your hair dry and voluminous.

Or you can partially use a curling iron to reduce the frizziness and style curl your hair. Use the appropriate hair cosmetics suitable for your hair type and the humidity in your area.

Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for natural hair.

If your hair is thin and fine but frizzy consider a keratin or rebonding, a keratin straightening being preferred.

After shampooing and conditioning, towel dry and wrap your hair with a towel for about 8~12 mins to absorb excess moisture and even out the moisture from root to ends.
